Botox
Botulinum Toxin A, the scientific name for Botox, provides a buffer to neurotransmitters within the injected muscles, lessening the signal to contract. This releases the tension of wrinkles and folds around the injection sites. The full effects of Botox can take 2-14 days to fully develop and can last up to 6 months. Patients may resume all normal activities immediately after treatment. Common side effects, as with all injectable products, include swelling, bruising, bleeding, and itching at the injection site. Most side effects resolve themselves naturally within 24 hours.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are safe, gel-like injectable substances that smooth creases, fine lines, and wrinkles to rejuvenate your skin and add volume and fullness to your face. Dermal fillers can be used to enhance your lips, fill your cheeks, straighten out your jawline, soften grooves underneath your eyes, and many other cosmetic alterations to reduce the visible effects of aging.
Dermal fillers do not fill in wrinkles but rather add volume to the desired area in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. FDA-approved dermal fillers can last between six to 12 months before fading and requiring another injection. The lifespan and overall effectiveness of your dermal filler treatment depend on your physiological makeup which is why we recommend consulting your doctor before beginning treatment.
Most dermal fillers last between six and 12 months before they are absorbed back into the skin and the results start to fade. Typically, most FDA-approved dermal fillers are also infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. Injecting cosmetic dermal fillers only takes a short amount of time to complete, and most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
By combining the applications of hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane or Juvederm, with blood derived growth factors we can achieve a unique, balanced approach to restoring a more youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid is a water-binding molecule found at the core of all connective tissues in the body. Hyaluronic acid maintains healthy skin and stimulates elastin and collagen production. The natural aging process and sun exposure slow down our body’s production of hyaluronic acid thus causing our skin to wrinkle and lose its youthful structure. Using hyaluronic acid fillers alone will add volume to skin. However, when combining fillers with your own blood plasma, we are able to improve volume, skin tone & texture.
Platelet-rich plasma is a regenerative technology which utilizes the body’s own biochemistry. The activated growth factors within the plasma will instinctively repair and strengthen the specific tissues to which they are applied. The platelet-rich plasma is easily obtained by drawing blood in the same manner as it is done for routine blood tests. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge, spun and separated to obtain the plasma. By utilizing your own blood there’s virtually no risk of an allergic reaction.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a method of regenerating and resurfacing the skin by inducing a controlled wound to the skin.
It removes the top layers of skin to help induce collagen re-modeling and improve sun-damaged skin, skin pigmentation problems, wrinkles, skin texture, and the overall appearance of the skin. There are several types of chemical peels each suited to different skin problems and types.
Chemical peels also vary in strength and are classified as superficial, medium, and deep according to the level of skin they reach.
The key determinants to which chemical peel is right for you are; the degree of the skin problem/aging/sun damage, the skin type/color, the amount of improvement you would like to achieve, and the amount of recovery or downtime that is acceptable by you.
